Montpelier, VT - Following a unanimous vote of approval by the Montpelier City Council, the Board of Directors of the Vermont Mountaineers are pleased to announce a new beer garden at Montpelier Recreation Field for the 2017 season.  The beer garden will be a shared venture with the Three Penny Taproom.  The Three Penny Taproom will operate the beer garden which will bring their nationally recognized knowledge of Vermont craft beers and expertise in serving beer at community events to the ballpark.

The beer garden will be located down the left field line just beyond the foul pole.  The new fenced-in area will feature picnic tables for fans to rest and cans of beer and cider from local brewers.  Proof of legal drinking age & a ticket to the game will be required to enter the beer garden and beer sales will conclude at the end of the seventh inning.  Drinks will not be allowed outside of the beer garden.

Scott Kerner, co-owner of the Three Penny Taproom, said of the new venture, “We are honored to be part of the Mountaineers’ plans for adding a beer garden to the games at Montpelier Recreation Field. We love what the games bring to the culture of Montpelier and, as a business who takes pride in our community, we look forward to providing this service to the fans. We will provide a safe and fun place for folks to have a beer or cider while watching the game.”

Brian Gallagher, General Manager of the Vermont Mountaineers, said, “We are excited to partner with the Three Penny Taproom on this addition to the ballpark.  They are strong members of the central Vermont community and have a long track record of successful and responsible operations.  Many of the teams in the NECBL either have beer available at their ballparks or are in the process of adding it to their games.  Plus, fans have often asked for the chance to enjoy a cold beer while watching a ballgame on a beautiful Vermont summer night.  We are happy to be able to add this option to the Mountaineers games.”

The beer garden will also be available for group and corporate events.  If you are interested in scheduling an event in the beer garden, please contact Brian Gallagher atgmvtm@comcast.net.
